Duane Poliquin was born on December 2, 1940 in Saskatchewan, Canada. He graduated in May of 1962 with a BS degree in geological engineering, mining option, from the College of Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia, and a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and several other industry associations.Over a period of forty-two years, Duane progressed from field work in isolated parts of Canada to project initiation and management, to investment analysis and decision making, to management of public companies and the discovery of several mines, resulting in profits for long-term shareholders and associates.

Almaden Minerals (T.AMM; Amex: AAU) had plenty of news last month – drilling commencing at the ATW diamond property in the Northwest Territories and at the Caldera gold project in Mexico – but probably the biggest news was the sale of its Elk gold deposit in B.C. to Beanstalk Capital (V.BEG). Almaden will receive 37 million shares of BEG, making them the largest shareholder (58%), plus retain a 2% NSR in the Elk project.
