Senior Developer
We are seeking an experienced website and systems developer to help us build best-in-class data-driven web sites, ecommerce systems, and other critical business infrastructure. Our company is a rapidly growing direct-to-consumer financial services/publishing firm, and this role provides a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our business. In this position, you would be responsible for the development and/or sourcing, implementation and maintenance of the systems needed for our next stages of growth.
Candidates for this position must have at least 2-5 years of experience as a web & systems developer, with proven success and superior working knowledge of:
- PHP/MySQL/Apache environment (although translating from a Ruby on Rails, J2EE or .NET environment may be possible)
- Basic Linux/LAMP administration
- SOAP and RESTful web services development on LAMP
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web development technologies such as Ajax & JQuery.
- Object oriented programming techniques
- Collaborative, team based development
Experience with the following is preferred, but not required, with the understanding that developing these skills will be essential to long term success of the candidate in this position:
- Agile development process and test driven development techniques including use of PHPUnit or similar
- Source code control techniques including branching and merging
- Drupal development – including custom modules and theming
- Database management and data warehousing
- Web/marketing analytics systems
- Email marketing systems and MTAs
The candidate must have the ability to quickly get up to speed on the technologies they are not familiar with, and be in a position to recommend appropriate additions or changes to the infrastructure where required. This position requires hands-on software development, so you must be able and willing to both write code and maintain the code of others.

Superior verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to interface with non-technical executive management to successfully translate business objectives are critical. This position may include limited people and vendor/supplier management responsibilities, depending on the candidate’s experiences and skills.
